Andy Marvel is a songwriter and music producer from New York City who has enjoyed a distinguished career penning songs for many contemporary artists. His songs, including Shy Guy, With You, and Treat Her Like a Lady, have appeared on albums that have sold over 70 million copies world wide.

Born and raised in New York City, he grew up in a musical family. His grandfather, Daniel Saidenberg, was first-chair cellist for the Chicago Symphony and a noted conductor. His uncle Sheriff Bob is currently the center of a burgeoning bluegrass scene in Greenwich village. Andy took up guitar and piano at age 10, and studied music theory at Oberlin College, classical piano at Sarah Lawrence and jazz at Berklee School of Music. He spent the 80's playing in bands at CBGB's and up and down the East coast, while learning his way around recording studios at NY's fabled Secret Sound. He started one of the first "midi" studios there and was soon doing sessions as a keyboard player for Madonna, Chaka Khan, Debbie Gibson, George Michael and on countless 80's remixes.

Andy was signed to Sony Publishing in the late 80's and got his first 'cuts' writing for Sweet Sensation, India and the Cover Girls. He was introduced to a young Jamaican artist Diana King in 1993, and they wrote Shy Guy, a world wide number 1 single. Andy produced and co-wrote the bulk of Diana King's 3 albums on Sony and Maverick. In 1994 he signed to Ric Wake's pub company thru EMI, who helped him place songs on Celine Dion's grammy winning album of the year FALLING INTO YOU and the massive follow-up LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE. Through his relationship with manager David Sonenberg, Marvel co-wrote and produced the theme song for the Oscar winning documentary WHEN WE WERE KINGS.

In 2001, Marvel signed with Universal Music Publishing, and continues to write with many artists including Jessica Simpson, with whom he (and Billy Mann) wrote the number one smash With You in 2004. Andy has been developing young artists throughout his career and recently signed Burnham to his production company Headspinners LLC, and procured a major record deal for them on Island/Def Jam in 2010.

Marvel’s music has been covered by Diana King, Brian McNight, Jason DeRulo, Garou, Lee Mead, Maxi Priest, Jon Secada, Dream, Patti Austin, Jessica Andrews, Eternal, Nikki Webster, Jennifer Brown, Tamarama, Ben Jelen, OV7 , Nikki Webster, Willa Fordand Celine Dion. He’s scored the theme song for a popular Japanese TV show and the title track for the Oscar-winning documentary When We Were Kings, and has had his songs placed on soundtracks for Bad Boys, My Best Friend’s Wedding, First Wives Club, Cool Runnings, as well as in numerous indie films and tv placements.

Andy is married to Jane, who runs the highly successful handbag business Jane Marvel, Inc. Their greatest creations are their two wonderful boys, Nick and Lucas.
